I am so impressed with his showing at Skate America.

Takahiko Kozuka’s short program at 2012 Skate America
The top three men yesterday all had such great skates for different reasons. And I liked them all for very different reasons.
After hearing that Taka’s practices had been very rough, I came to this expecting that this event would not be his best. I was wonderfully surprised! He went for drama and I think he really sold it. This program captures some (but not all) of what makes his exhibition skates so appealing.
Basically, this skate was a pure emotional reaction for me. It was nice to see him skate so well, it was great to see him happy with how he skated! It was great to see beautiful choreography laid down with grace (and a shirt that didn’t distract me).
Pure magic? I guess not, I didn’t feel a tear forming, or anything. But this is the short program that I most connected to last night.

MY STUPID HEART. THIS PODIUM. DAI DIDN’T COMPLETELY HATE HIMSELF TODAY. TAKA’S IMPROVING FROM HIS SKATE AMERICA DISASTUH. ROSS FUCKING MINER. BOSS.
I still cannot get over where this kid was a year ago. He was so awestruck by getting to train with Dai and it inspired him. He wanted to make himself better, took dance classes, worked even harder, and look at him today. Standing next to Dai and Taka. I can’t handle this.
Ross is all grown up now~I still remember what he looks like last year~:) hope he gets better and better~
ALL OF THIS. I really can’t help but keep admiring Ross. I love my favorites no matter what (I mean, lol. look at what happened last season.) but this is one of those moments that make me reaaaally proud to be a fan <3
This is a flawless podium. I’m so happy for ROSSSSS and TJ <333… None of their skates were perfect today, but it’s okay, they must save their best for the Nationals, which will be two of the toughest competitions this season. I’ll keep rooting for all of them!!!
For the comments alone. (My sweet boys!)

My usual favorite event was too hard to take. I haven’t watched any of the men skate yet. (Someone accurately described the men’s event as a “barrel full of what even.”)
